Short and Sweet:
Switched and Torn, the first two books of the series, grew on me like I never expected. When I finished the last page of Torn, I was in complete agony. I needed Ascend ASAP.
It is always bittersweet when you get to the last book of a series. That last book can sometimes make or break that series. Ascend definitely fell into the former category. After three books, these characters have really grown on me, and it is sad to see them go. But Hocking lets the book go out with a bang. All loose ends are tied up either by the end of the book, or in the extra scenes at the end. Normally, I skip over book add-ins, but these are not to be missing. Think of them less as extras and more as epilogues.
Ascend was the icing on the cake of this series. Although, I predicted most of it, I was happy with how things ended. The only true complaint I had was the final battle. For all the build-up throughout the books, it was rather anticlimactic.
