Series: Matched #2
Published by Dutton Children's Books on November 1st 2011
In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.
Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.
Short and Sweet:
Matched, the first book in the series, was one of my favorite reads of last year. Condie stormed onto the scene and was lost in her world. Flash forward a year, and here we are with Crossed.
Crossed was not what I wanted it to be. I expected the same level of action, romance, suspense. But it wasn't there. Not exactly. Crossed seemed to be a stepping stone type book. Adding to the overall story, but not answering many of the lingering questions nor resolving some of the previous issues. All in all, it was just a frustrating read.
Despite not being what I wanted (or needed) Crossed to be, I still enjoyed the experience. Cassia and Ky have come along way from where they were in Matched. And still have a long, long way to go. I am really hoping the third book will bring things together and round out this series nicely.
