Choose: A quick death and hell or slow poison and hell.

About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.

As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear.

Short & Sweet: Poison Study is beautiful in its simplicity. The world… the characters… the plot… all of it ties together to compliment each other in a way that is ingenious. Yelena is the type of character that only comes around every so often. Brave, smart, courageous… there are too many words that come to mind when thinking of her. And Yalek… only one word is needed… yum. Seriously, where can I find a guy that like?

Final Verdict: Amazing novel! If you have not read Poison Study yet, you need to fix that immediately. The novel combines outstanding characters that will stay with you long after you finish that last page with a breathtaking world.

Oh, I loved Poison Study and Magic Study! (Still need to review both, will probs just do it all in one post.) Also, this is the first good thing I have heard about Fire Study, I mean people like it, but not as much as Poison Study, so this is really heartening. Yay!

  2. Definitely love these mini reviews! I desperately want to read this series, so I am thrilled to read your reviews! Good to know that the series dips in book 2, but comes back strong in book 3! 🙂
