Forget everything you ever knew about unicorns...

Real unicorns are venomous, man-eating monsters with huge fangs and razor-sharp horns. Fortunately, they've been extinct for a hundred and fifty years.

Or not.

Astrid had always scoffed at her eccentric mother's stories about killer unicorns. But when one of the monsters attacks her boyfriend—thereby ruining any chance of him taking her to the prom—Astrid finds herself headed to Rome to train as a unicorn hunter at the ancient cloisters the hunters have used for centuries.

Short and Sweet: For the longest time, I avoided Rampant. Come on… killer unicorns? But once I sat down with it, I could not pull myself away. Peterfreund's writing style is wonderful. It flows easily. The characters are full of life. And there is just enough humor to make everything work. Peterfreund really makes you want to believe that there are unicorns amoungst us.. whether they be the killer kind or not is up to you.

Final Verdict: This novel rocks! With strong female characters, plenty of twist and turns, and loads of action, you will not want to put Rampant down until the very last page is turned.

  2. I’ve been wary of this one too, because of the whole killer unicorn thing…but I keep hearing lots of good things about it! I think I’m going to have to break down and try it. Thanks for your views, it’s good to know that you were skeptical at first and still enjoyed it!

  3. Sounds like an interesting story. I’m not sure I would willingly pick up a book about killer unicorns on my own. But since you recommend it so highly, i might just have to pick it up.
