Short & Sweet: I had heard of Peter Lerangis because of his being a part of the 39 clues series, so I was interested to read the first book of this new series involving mythology and adventure. I liked that it had a similar design as Riordan's books, drawing you into the story with interesting characters and an adventure driven plot. Jack and three others may die if they don't find a cure – the problem is there are also supernatural elements trying to stop them along with human doctors who seem to be trying to help them. I enjoyed meeting the other three characters and there's a good balance between them and the way they interact. The next book I hope will have as much action and plot intrigue as the first and that we will maybe meet some new and interesting characters along their journey.
Final Verdict: Not quite up to Riordan level writing, but an overall great read that will engage you and keep you wanting more.
