The mysterious Tuxedo Mask has revealed his identity, forcing Usagi to come to terms with her growing affections for the masked vigilante, all the while defending the people of Earth from renewed attacks by the sinister “enemy”. Everything threatens to overwhelm even Sailor Moon when suddenly a new Sailor Guardian appears. Could this new Guardian be the Moon Princess the Sailor Guardians are sworn to protect?
Plot:
In contrast to the first volume, Sailor Moon, Volume 2 was completely shocking. All the sailor scouts have now assembled: Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus. With their forces now joined, it is time to take on the bad guys.
One of the biggest plot threads that I have been looking forward to, in this arc, is the discovery of the Moon Kingdom and everyone regaining their past memories. And while it occurs in this installment, it was very different that what I had anticipated. It is so very hard to give details without giving everything away. But let's just say these discoveries turned the whole arc on its head.
Graphics:
Simply stunning. Since the volume focuses a good portion on the past relationship of Serenity (Usagi) and Endymion (Mamoru), there are more than enough swoon worthy panels. If romance isn't your thing, Volume 2 is the lead in installment for the first big battle. So, for me, the best of both worlds.
Final Verdict:
Sailor Moon, Vol. 2 turned me in a circle. Plot threads and details are unveiled that I never had a clue existed. Loved this volume both for the surprises and the uncertainty to come. I cannot wait to see what else is left to uncover.
