Book Conversation: The Vault of Dreamers + Giveaway

Kate: What do you want to discuss first when it comes to The Vault of Dreamers? Do you want to start with the world and the school? Kristen: Yes, I loved the setup; let’s go with that to start off. Kate: I did once I knew what was going on; the beginning was a little weird for me because they kept talking about their ‘blip rank’, but it took a couple chapters for the book to really go into detail with what was going on. Kristen: It reminded me a bit of anime/manga which throws you right into the plot […]

Book Review: Promised

Book Review: Promised

Reviews: Birthmarked / Prized   * Review and Summary may contain spoilers from previous books of the series. Read at your own risk *   Birthmarked was ground breaking. Taking readers into the depths of the Enclave. Revealing secrets that had lain buried for an untold number of years. Prized was surprising… in a good way. I appreciated O'Brien taking us outside of the Enclave and its walls. Allowing readers to get a better look at the outside world. So, like most final books in a trilogy, Promised had a lot riding on it   Maybe it has been a while since I last finished Prized, […]

Double Monster Review: Priz..

Double Monster Review: Prized

Review: Birthmarked     I was really looking forward to this book, having enjoyed the first so much and knew this one would be even better. I loved the first book, but this one was so different and made me think a bit of Blood Red Road (which I loved) but with less violence. I loved the mystery behind why people could not leave the village that Gaia discovered and how she went about solving the dilemma. The village itself was so unique and filled with intriguing characters and customs. The plot was steady, filled with drama, romance, and mystery. […]

Short and Sweet: I am a dystopian junky. No matter how hard I try to get away from these type of books… they just keep pulling me back in. When Birthmarked first released, I was dying to get my hands on it. Months later, I have finally had the chance to get my hands on it. First impression? Birthmarked was certainly worth the wait. A brave character. An enticing world. A romance that was a sweet as it was frustrating. Yep, I am sure glad I had a chance to dive into these pages.   Final Verdict: A very satisfying dystopian. Well-written with plenty […]

Book Review: Birthmarked

Book Review: Birthmarked

Gaia is the daughter of a midwife and destined to be one herself someday. That day arrives too quickly when her parents are arrested for reasons unsure to her. Bravely, she decides she must try to help them – even if it means breaking the rules she has followed her whole life. Birthmarked had a fantastic plot with a few twists, dramatic moments, and even some underlying romance. Gaia surprised me. She cared too much for her family to live a safe life. She definitely is very conscious of her scarred face and sometimes cannot see past it to how […]
