Graphic Novel Review: Wires and Nerves volume 1

Wires and Nerves Volume 1 takes place after Winter, where Cinder is trying to move over power to the people in Luna, but is dealing with rogue wolves that have escaped. Iko volunteers to try to track them down, figuring she’s the best person for the job. There’s a ton of action and I loved seeing our usual gang in the aftermath of Winter. Iko’s adventures lead her to each group and we get a peak at what life is like for them. The only downside is I wasn’t in love with the illustrations. They’re good, they just didn’t really pop […]

Book Review: Stars Above

Book Review: Stars Above

I was very sad to find that Winter was the last book in the Lunar Chronicles series, so I was very happy to see her short story collection coming out. Stars Above has nine different stories in it. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on each below. The Keeper: This story was from the point of view of Scarlet’s grandmother – Michelle Benoit. I loved seeing more from the point of view of this brave and wonderful woman. Scarlet runs away from her father after he spends too many nights drinking and ends up staying with her grandmother. Unfortunately, her grandmother now has another […]

Book Review: Cress

Book Review: Cress

Cress takes place right where the previous book left off. I love the way this series is starting to spin off into many different story arcs with more new and interesting characters with each book. Cress is the Rapunzel of space, living in a satellite and her task is to find Cinder, only she wants to find Cinder so she can be rescued, not to reveal her location. Cinder, Captain Thorne, Scarlet and Wolf are together at the start of the book, until the rescue mission to Cress goes wrong when Sybil, the thaumaturge who Cress reports to shows up […]

Book Review: Scarlet

Book Review: Scarlet

Having enjoyed Cinder, I was anticipating loving Scarlet, as I tend to love anything Red Riding Hood. I sat on an ARC of this and then a hard cover and then finally downloaded the audiobook from the library and set to cleaning. I loved the audio version first of all, I felt the narrator did an amazing job bringing out the personalities of all of the characters. Set from the point of view of Scarlet and Cinder, both girls are very different, but both very admirable. Cinder had been captured at the end of the first book and is now […]

Book Review: Scarlet

Book Review: Scarlet

Reviews: Cinder * Review and Summary may contain spoilers from previous books of the series. Read at your own risk * Cinder was hands down one of my top five reads from 2012. Beautifully written, fabulous characters, and one of the best fairy tale retellings I have ever read. But with the unresolved ending, and knowing the next book in the Lunar Chronicles would be featuring a new character and a new story line, the outlook on this series was looking a bit foggy. Or it was until I started reading Scarlet. It is safe to say that if you […]

Double Monster Review: Cind..

Double Monster Review: Cinder

Cinderella was one of my favorite fairy tales growing up. It seems that every time a new retelling comes out, I just have to jump on it. Cinder was no exception. Look at the cover! Plus we are getting a Cinderella with cyborgs! Was so excited for this one. Cinder is a fully imagined retelling of the classic Cinderella tale with plenty of science fiction add-ins. One of the first things that I noticed about Cinder was how different it felt from every other version of Cinderella I have ever read. But strangely familiar to another one.1 Cinder lives […]
