The Blood of Olympus is the last in the series, one that I didn’t think I could love more than Percy Jackson, but I do. I loved seeing the characters grow and the budding romances build up. The last volume has lots of adventure, peril and characterization that really pulls you in. I’m always surprised at the ease in which I can jump back into this world after a year or so after the last book in the series. The dialogue is witty and humorous and I love the unique characters and settings. All lovers of mythology and adventure should […]
Author: Rick Riordan
Short & Sweet: After the horrible cliffhanger of the last book, The House of Hades quickly made it to the top of my reading list once it was released. I don't want to reveal too much, but this book finds Percy and Annabeth in Hades, facing trials so dangerous that I was biting my nails throughout this book. Also, I felt like Nico's character was hashed out more in this book and finally his brooding attitude explained. Leo is a favorite of mine and I loved seeing him finally get a lot more plot time and even a romantic interest. […]
Short & Sweet: I love Rick Riordan. LOVE his books. So, the Percy Jackson series ended and then the first book of this series featured a new character – Jason. Well, the second book features Percy again and I was so excited to see what was going on. I love the new characters as well. Hazel, who has an unique power that calls too much attention and ruined her life once already. Frank has a secret he is keeping, something he knows will one day cost him his life. Together, these three heroes embark on an adventure. A fantastic one […]
Short & Sweet: An amazing new series by Rick Riordan, the first book takes you into the world of Percy Jackson, but from the point of view of a new male character – Jason. Full of action, adventure, and peril, this new series is one I'm looking forward to reading more of – and so are my students. Many of them groaned when I told them the next book would be out until this coming fall. Final Verdict: A series that may even surpass the Percy Jackson books.
