Book Review: Passenger

Book Review: Passenger

Passenger was a very slow read and one that at times towards the end got a bit confusing as the time travel started to get a bit out of control. I really liked getting to know our two main characters, Etta who is a violinist and has to learn about all this time travel stuff without preparation. Nicholas is a sailor who wants his freedom from this family, but cannot quite grab hold of. He is also black and suffers injustice in many of the time periods that he travels to. I liked the premise, but it took a long […]

Book Review: These Broken S..

Book Review: These Broken Stars

I’ve never disliked two main characters more than in These Broken Stars. Lilac was a bit stuck up and a little too concerned with how her father would react the whole time (even when surviving on an unknown planet) which I guess we find out she has a good reason for. Tarver is just kind of boring and bland – too chivalrous – too perfect – rather annoying. The whole premise also is weird and funky with a deserted planet but not … it’s seemingly haunted yet not. It’s an odd plot and the ending wraps it up yet there’s […]

Book Review: The Empty Grav..

Book Review: The Empty Grave – Blog Tour & Giveaway

Find it: Amazon, B&N, iBooks, TBD, Goodreads Additional Books in the Series: THE SCREAMING STAIRCASE , THE WHISPERING SKULL , THE HOLLOW BOY, THE CREEPING SHADOW. I’ve loved this series from the first book, which I first encountered when I was a CYBILS judge the year it won. It was a clear winner, so far reaching above any book I had read that year. I just love the mix of great characters, the absolutely stunning setting of London with ghosts, and some of the more horrific scenes that keep me coming back. While there are some terribly horrific moments, there’s lots of humor and banter, […]

Book Review: Rose Under Fir..

Book Review: Rose Under Fire

Why do I keep reading books that break my heart? When I was in middle school, I was OBSESSED with the Holocaust, we went to a museum and discussed it and I bought anything and everything related to this time period. True tales gathered up, fiction stories, and even war memories from the POV of soldiers. It’s like the trainwreck you cannot look away from, I wanted to learn more. I mean how does a government get away with killing so many people? Rose’s story was so gripping and once she started writing her memories down from her time in Ravensbrück, […]
