Review: The Candidates * Review and Summary may contain spoilers from the first book of the series. Read at your own risk * Book One of the Delcroix Academy series, now titled The Talents, was one of my top 5 reads of 2010. Seriously, that book was amazing! And repackaging of this series aside, I was super excited to finally get aback into this world and figure out what was going to happen next. The Marked takes readers back to Delcroix Academy. Dancia, in her second year, has a lot of surprises in store. The Watchers are pushing […]
Short & Sweet: I love Rick Riordan. LOVE his books. So, the Percy Jackson series ended and then the first book of this series featured a new character – Jason. Well, the second book features Percy again and I was so excited to see what was going on. I love the new characters as well. Hazel, who has an unique power that calls too much attention and ruined her life once already. Frank has a secret he is keeping, something he knows will one day cost him his life. Together, these three heroes embark on an adventure. A fantastic one […]
Reviews: The Van Allen Legacy / Misguided Angel As a long time fan of this series, I have been waiting for things to hit the fan. Both plot and character wise. With so many threads going on, I have been dying for the series to begin to climax. And it looked like I may be finally able to get this with Lost in Time. ***WARNING*** Lost in Time is Book 6 of the Blue Bloods Series. The following review may contain information from previous books of the series. Read at your own discretion. Lost in Time, from the beginning, had […]
Short and Sweet: I really did not know what to expect from Mercy. Angels? Powers? Missing girl with a grief stricken brother? Not sure if I am the only one, but wow, that seems like a novel with a lot going on. Which left me wondering, could a novel with all that, really hold up to its promises? The answer for me was a simple no. Mercy does feature angels and a very unique concept for angels. But the concept felt bogged down by the mystery. Yes, the mystery was interesting. I was, at times, on the edge of my seat wanting […]
I really enjoyed the first book and was interested to see where it was going in the second. Well, there was definitely more action in this one. This book introduces a group of people that are similar to Will, but they may not be a perfect match to help him. The pace of this book was fast paced and it was a whirlwind of fun, romance, and some new intrigue added into the mix. I like the exploration back to Will interacting with his father and glimpsing a little into the future of Alona's parents without her. I find Alona […]
After finishing Hex Hall months ago, I have been itching to get my hands on Demonglass. And the wait was definitely worth it. It is easy to say that Rachel Hawkins has done it again! Demonglass is even better than Hex Hell. And for me, that is saying A LOT. Demonglass picks up where Hex Hell left off. Sophie is determined to undergo the Removal. Her love life is.. complicated. Her father is suddenly wanting to be a father. Then there is the discovery that there are more than two demons in the the world. What is a girl […]
Short & Sweet: An amazing new series by Rick Riordan, the first book takes you into the world of Percy Jackson, but from the point of view of a new male character – Jason. Full of action, adventure, and peril, this new series is one I'm looking forward to reading more of – and so are my students. Many of them groaned when I told them the next book would be out until this coming fall. Final Verdict: A series that may even surpass the Percy Jackson books.
Melissa de la Cruz has done it again! Picking up where The Van Alen Legacy left off, readers are immediately thrown right back into action as Jack and Schuyler race to complete their mission. Being a long time supporter of The Blue Bloods series, I must admit that Misguided Angel really took me by surprise. And is now definitely in the front running as one of my favorite novels of this series. I could not put it down! Melissa de la Cruz holds nothing back as she takes readers on one grand adventure to the next. Like all the […]
