Book View: Divergent

Short & Sweet: I know, why haven’t I read Divergent until now? Was it the movie that finally prompted me.. maybe, but I finally read it. I’ll be honest, I enjoyed it, I really liked Tris and Four and I’m a little worried about seeing the movie since I didn’t picture either of them looking anything like they do in the movie. Divergent didn’t blow me away though, maybe I’m a little dystopian-ed out. I liked Tris and her growth in this book, though I worry for the relationship she is started with Four in the next two books. The action […]

Book Review: Rush

Book Review: Rush

Rush is a read that I have a hard time putting my finger on, or even really wrapping my brain around. It all basically starts with a car accident and a game that is really not a game. Miki is a normal high school student until one day when for the greater good, she sacrifices herself for a younger student. From the moment of that sacrifice, Miki is pulled into what the others refer to as the game. A life or death battle against some crazy creatures. From early on in the read, Rush felt all over the place. Sometimes […]

Book Review: The Ward

Book Review: The Ward

The Ward was one of my most anticipated reads for 2013. Boy, did I want to read this one. From the very first page, I knew that there was something different about The Ward. Starting with its lush world, I though that The Ward would be a book that I wanted to curl up with and never let go. And at first, I did. But in the back of my mind, there was something off. Something that I was having a hard time putting my finger on. What it was exactly, I could not say. However, as the book continued, […]

Book Review: The Lost Code

Book Review: The Lost Code

Normally after finishing a book, my thoughts are pretty clear. Either I liked it, or didn't, or maybe even something in-between. But for some reason, The Lost Code has left me stumped. From the blurb, I believed that I would be encountering something along the lines of a dystopian with the myth of Atlantis interwoven. And that is what I got. However, it just doesn't feel like it. My problems with The Lost Code began almost immediately. The world has been all but destroyed. People are forced into living in dome enclosures. Commodities are scarce. However, there is a special […]

Book Review: Erasing Time

Book Review: Erasing Time

Every time I open a book, I hope for an experience like the one that I had with Erasing Time. From the beginning, this book and I had a connection. I love time travel books, and when they mix a little bit with a dystopian world, it can be pure bliss. Erasing Time was a surprisingly quick read. I sat down and before I knew it, the book was over. I love how Hill incorporates all the different elements into her futuristic world. The language evolving. Fashion being changed into something unrecognizable. Hill obviously took her time thinking through this […]

Book Review: Hemlock

Book Review: Hemlock

I vaguely remember Hemlock was to have a paranormal element… and before I started reading, I could not even begin to guess what it would be. But with that lovely cover, I was willing to give whatever it turned out to be a try. Werewolves! Of all the ideas floating around my head as to what secrets Hemlock could be holding… this was not even on the list. Hemlock starts with a bang. Mackenzie, aka Mac, our MC, has just lost her best friend to of all things a werewolf. In Mac's small town, unfortunately, a werewolf attack is not an […]
