Book Review: Shadow Study

Book Review: Shadow Study

Shadow Study is another novel set in Snyder’s beautiful and enchanting world. Revisiting the characters of Yelena and Valek, I was excited to dive in and start the adventure. For all of the charms of the world, I felt a bit disconnected at first and I think that stems from the varying perspectives. Instead of just having the plot from one viewpoint, it shows both of our characters. I understand why, the characters are separated for most of the book, but for some reason I felt a disconnect for a while due to where the view point stopped and the […]

Double Monster Review: Touc..

Double Monster Review: Touch of Power

I've been a huge fan of Maria's since first laying my hands on Poison Study and have since then taken a road trip just to meet her, read everything she's written and simply just love her work. So, when I heard about this new series, I was psyched. I loved her dystopian but was aching for more fantasy since the end of the Glass series. When this one came out on Netgalley, I was excited and then Kate read it and said "You will love this book" and so I picked it up as soon as possible. I could not […]

Book Review: Where Demons F..

Book Review: Where Demons Fear to Tread

Cover love. Pure and simple with this one. Love the colors. Love the angel. Love everything about it. Add in the guardian angel and an arch demon plot element. I was sold.   Lately, I have been in the mood for something different. Something to keep me on my toes. I found that in Where Demons Fear to Tread.   Chong divides the sides of good and evil straight down the middle. On one side is Serena, our guardian angel. Julian, our arch demon on the other. Where some authors try to make the line blur, make the good guy […]

Book View: Poison Study

Short & Sweet: Poison Study is beautiful in its simplicity. The world… the characters… the plot… all of it ties together to compliment each other in a way that is ingenious. Yelena is the type of character that only comes around every so often. Brave, smart, courageous… there are too many words that come to mind when thinking of her. And Yalek… only one word is needed… yum. Seriously, where can I find a guy that like? Final Verdict: Amazing novel! If you have not read Poison Study yet, you need to fix that immediately. The novel combines outstanding characters that […]

Book View: Magic Study

Short & Sweet: To be honest, I have a love / hate relationship with Magic Study. On one hand, I love it due to seeing more of Yelena, how her character develops, and the old friends again. But I had a harder time being enthralled with this novel compared to the previous one. Maybe it was the lack of action or the lack, for the most part, of Valek… I am not completely sure.   Final Verdict: Magic Study was definitely an enjoyable read. It suffered from some plot drags due to focusing mainly on Yelena's past. While I enjoyed learning more about her […]

Book View: Fire Study

Short & Sweet: Any and all doubts I ever had about this series flew right out the window with Fire Study. Snyder is back in her element bringing readers a fast paced action novel that kicks butt. Yelena and her friends are tested to the limits in the last installment. And what an ending it was. I was completely blown away.   Final Verdict: Fire Study easily reminded me why Snyder is such a talented writer. I devoured this novel in hours… not wanting to put this novel down for anything. It was a completely satisfying read that left me in awe.

Book Review: Sea Glass

Book Review: Sea Glass

Opal is back in action again in Sea Glass. Like the previous novel, Opal is an engaging and fun character to follow. Her adventures are plenty as she seems to leap from one troublesome adventure to another. From the previous novel, Storm Glass, Opal has done what seems like a complete 180 in regards to her personality. Gone is the optimistic Opal who believes in the good of everyone. In her place is an Opal who as been burned one too many times. An Opal who seems jaded beyond belief. As reader, I enjoyed seeing another side of her […]

Book Review: Storm Glass

Book Review: Storm Glass

Since being captivated a few months ago by Snyder's dystopian novel, Inside Out, I decided that it might be time to give her fantasy novel, Storm Glass, a chance. And I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. Readers of Tamora Pierce will quickly discover that they have found a kindred soul in Snyder. Her words flow effortlessly from the page creating a breath-taking world that readers will never want to leave. It is a world that is easy to bask in. The details are full bodied and utterly enchanting. This can also be said of the characters. Opal, Kade, and […]
