Book Review: Claire De Lune

Book Review: Claire De Lune

When I picked up Clare de Lune, strangely enough, I was in a werewolf mood (that doesn't happen very often). And for the most part, the novel satisified me. The plot was very suspenseful, more so than what I was expecting. Claire was a great character, and you could not help but sympathize with everything that she was going through. And I loved Christine Johnson's take on werewolves. Completely unique. Although, Clare de Lune cured me of my werewolf novel longings, it was not everything that I was hoping it would be. However, Johnson gets mega kudos from me for creating […]

Book Review: Darkness Becom..

Book Review: Darkness Becomes Her

Darkness Becomes Her takes place in the not so distant future, mainly in New Orleans (aka New 2). This city, which in real life has overcome so much, has been hit (fictionally) harder than one city deserves by not one but two category 4 hurricanes in a very short period of time. Due to the carnage, the Federal Government simply gave up on the once great city, and allowed a group of families to buy the land. In this strange new territory, people are free to live life as they see fit. But not all is as it appears as our […]

Book Review: Crusade

Book Review: Crusade

Crusade was nothing like I expected it to be. What I was expecting? I am not completely sure. But whatever it was, it is not what I got. Crusade simply is amazing. From the very beginning, I was in shock at how original this novel is. Yes, the basic ideas for Vampires and their lore is there. But it is told in a completely fresh way. From the very first page, readers will quickly realize that Crusade is not your typical vampire novel. Gone are the many stereotypes that reader are familiar with. The first one being that Vampires […]

Book Review: Shade

Book Review: Shade

Is it bad to say that I wasn't sad to see her boyfriend die? My head was going "Don't do it – don't have sex!!" and then.. well – read the book. Bad way to start off this review – oh well. I loved the world build-up and it's absolutely fascinating and I hope to learn more with the next novel.. I'm assuming there's a next one… I didn't quite check. I definitely think the addition of this government group becoming interested in Aura really pulls the plot into a different theme then just – how do you grieve your […]

Book View: Wake

Book View: Wake

Short & Sweet: Wake was definitely quite the different paranormal YA novel that dealt with dream-walking. I like how the power is more of a burden to Janie than anything else. I loved the characters, the plot and the way Janie dealt with this newfound skill. The audiobook was well done and kept me working around my apartment so I could finish the book. Final Verdict: Being the first in a series, Wake will definitely have me be reading more soon.

Book Review: Never After

Book Review: Never After

Never After is an action-packed thrill ride. I honestly cannot remember the last novel that made me laugh so much. Never After, quite literally, made me laugh until I cried quite a few times. There is so much here for readers to fall in love with. The plot twists, one of a kind characters, and oh, did I mention humor. Never After is not just about the Peter Pan tale. It is about friendships, families, and survival. When I began the novel, I was not completely sure what I was getting myself into. Read the summary, and you might think […]
