Book Review: The Girl from the Well + Giveaway

I started The Girl from the Well late at night, home alone and I thoroughly could not put it down. I loved the creepy, horrific vibe it gave off from page one. Some readers may be put off by Okiku’s need to count everything, but I thought it flowed into the story seamlessly and it wasn’t an unnecessary quirk, as you later find out when her legend is revealed. Another thing that you might nitpick is sometimes the story bounces a bit to other characters, which may translate a little better in the finished copy. I would sometimes have to […]

Book Review: The Ninja Librarians The Accidental Keyhand

The Ninja Librarians is a book I had to pick up out of pure curiosity, being a librarian myself, I wanted to see what adventures it held for me as a reader. Dorrie is the main character, a girl who loves to take part in fake swordplay but finds that all this training will not help her in the real world. When a friend’s mongoose gets loose, Dorrie finds herself and her brother Marcus chasing it wildly through the library and into a new section they have never been. Before they know it, they are pulled into another world, one […]

Book Review: Wonder Light

Wonder Light is the first book in a new series that has unicorns in it. Much more than that, Wonder Light is the story of Twig, who is going to an island because of something that happened at home. She’s not sure she’ll even like it on this island, where she’ll learn to ride and take care of a pony and live with the Murleys, a couple that takes in troubled girls. All of that changes after she sees the […]

Book Review: What Curiosity..

Book Review: What Curiosity Kills

Things are changing in Mary's life. While most kids her age are worrying about boyfriends and dates, she is worrying about… why she is turning into a cat? As she struggles to come to terms with this new physical discovery, she quickly learns that she is not the only with her condition, or the only one who is not sure how to control it. I have very conflicted feelings regarding this novel. On one hand, I found this to be a very enjoyable read that has a lot of promise… and possibly a bright future as a series. On […]
