Audiobook Review: Boneshaker

Boneshaker is a book I’ve been meaning to read for a while now. I have them in book format, but decided to listen to the first on audiobook. I loved the narration and felt pulled away right into the story. The setting is steampunk, a feeling of darker, older times but with a mix of technology. In fact, technology is what laid to ruin the world that Briar and Zeke currently live in. It’s Zeke’s father and Briar’s husband that created the machine that went awry and created a city to be blocked off because of the living dead. Zeke […]

Book Review: A Conjuring of..

Book Review: A Conjuring of Light

A Conjuring of Light is the last book in this trilogy. So if you haven’t read the other two… well – what are you waiting for! These books are EPIC. I’m not sure how to review this one, so I’ll just go ahead and ramble right now. It takes place directly after that last terrible cliffhanger and somehow everyone turns out to be OKAY… it’s nailbiting and terrifying as I wait for the first person to die and then wipe the sweat off my brow. Only it gets worse. The evil inside Holland leaves him and manages to make everything […]

Book Review: A Natural History of Dragons

A Natural History of Dragons was a surprisingly engaging read. I mean… dragons… how can that not be engaging? But I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the mix of historical propriety mixed with dragons. First of all, I loved Isabella’s character – she tried her best to survive in society’s restraints and ended up winning a marriage full of love and mutual interest thanks to her strong personality. Her narrative is simply stunning – I love that even though she is somewhat odd for a woman of her class she has people around her that care for her and do […]

Book Review: A Darker Shade..

Book Review: A Darker Shade of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic blew me away. This book is so dark yet so vivid, the writing absolutely blew me away. Kell is our main character, one of two magicians who can travel between the worlds held together by one town – London. His home is in Red London, where he was raised alongside the prince of that land. Kell is a messenger, traveling between the worlds to the varying monarchs to deliver messages. The Gray London is where he finds Delilah Bard – aka Lila. She’s really what brings me to love this book if I’m being honest. Lila […]

Book View: The Tomb

Book View: The Tomb

Repairman Jack is one of my husband’s favorite series. I’ve been meaning to start reading them for a long time and now I know why he loves them. Full of action, mystery and paranormal elements, I fell in love with Jack’s world. Jack lives under the radar and is a “repairman” of a multitude of problems. His love life has fallen a bit since his ex-girlfriend found out what he actually does for a living. However, Gia calls him because her Aunt-in-Law is missing and she needs his help. Her daughter Vicky loves Jack and I loved the scenes between […]
