The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Kristen and Jessica. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Read this Week:

So I know what you are thinking wow that’s a lot of books for one week and yeah I am still a little struck by it too but three of these were audiobooks that I listened to at work. I also did a little mini readathon for myself and managed to finish three books in that time so that’s another factor. And 2 of these were a graphic novel and a manga. I really enjoyed Daughter of the Siren Queen I think even more than the first book maybe because we actually get to see Alosa on her ship being Captain and I love how ruthless she can be. I gave it 5/5. Bill Koinsberg’s books were an amazing surprise and I highly recommend them I gave the two novels 5/5 and the novella 4/5. I posted a review for Honestly Ben if you wanna check it out. The Summer of Jordi Perez was such a cute sweet romance between two girls and it was really refreshing since for some reason it’s a thing for the love story between two girls to be tragic. I am so glad that Amy Spalding is working help fix that trend. Kristen and I buddy read A Fistful of Charms and it’s a fourth book in a series and I don’t want to spoil anything for you so I’ll just say that I gave 4/5 and I really hope a certain character leaves the picture soon. Rereading Goblet of Fire was fun because I use to always say it was my least favorite but I had a ton of fun this go around I think the main thing that gets on my nerves is Harry and Ron fighting because my heart just can’t take it.

Currently Reading:

I am unsure what novel I am picking up next as I finished all the ones I had on the go this morning. I might have to do a try a chapter thing to figure it out.

Avid reader and gamer. Favorite thing in the entire world is Harry Potter. I read to escape that pesky thing we call reality.

It’s been a while since I read any of the Uglies novels or Shay’s story, but I think I might binge them before the new novels start coming out in the fall. This was a good reminder. Thanks for sharing!

I am definitely thinking about doing that as well Shay’s story reminded of just how much I love that world and the characters.

  2. I love the Uglies series, but I haven’t read Shay’s Story yet. Is it worth it?
I love Konigsberg’s work (and Bill himself!).

    Happy reading this week 🙂

I really enjoyed Shay’s story and it definitely adds another layer to Uglies because you get a better understanding of Tally and Shay’s friendship.
Happy reading to you as well 🙂
