The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Kate and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR:

So I went and saw my dad this weekend and while we were out  and about in town we went to the bookstore which actually started selling used books  so I ended up only paying 10 bucks for all four of these books. I have been looking for the Jack Sparrow book for years because I own some of the other books in that series but I have never been able to find book one until now.

Read this Week:

So I started off this week with a book about a bisexual necromancer and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed the story-line and the characters, I think the sequel will be even better. I gave this a 4.5/5. Raven the Pirates Princess was a ton of fun and I was laughing throughout, the characters are badass, hilarious, and interesting. My favorite would have to be Jay I am incredibly obsessed with her. Simon was a reread the first time I read it was back in 2015 and it was just as great this time around. I really enjoyed reading it in a day and then re-watching the movie that night. I gave it a 5/5 again. The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls was a big surprise it is a contemporary which I normally don’t gravitate towards but one of the main characters is gay and all the sisters are redheaded and they run a family bookstore. The youngest sister, Vi is gay and reads YA like I do which was amazing and she actually talks about loving Reign of the Fallen which amused me since I read it just a few days before.  I loved this book a lot and gave it 5/5. The Reader was also fantastic there is actually a hidden message throughout the book on certain pages where the page number is there will also be a word and if you keep up with that all throughout the book there is a message that comes out of it and it was really neat to have that. The story itself was also really interesting I adore books that focus on reading and this is also a fantasy which made it perfect for me. 5/5.

It’s definitely interesting so far. It is a little confusing at the start because it doesn’t really explain things and stuff is described in a vague way but it starts coming together. I’m about 150 pages in and I am really hooked.

Hi! Who’s the author for the Parable book? It looks like a graphic novel and I couldn’t find it online.
