The Monster Report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Read this Week:

The Frame-Up The Door to the Lost Smoke and Mirrors Peasprout Chen, Future Legend of Skate and Sword

The Haunted Serpent The Last Kids on Earth and the Cosmic Beyond The Magic Misfits: The Second Story

Wow! 7 books this week! We are in the last month of CYBILS so I’m trying to squeeze in reading every second I can. I finished The Frame-Up on audio and really enjoyed it more than I thought I would when I first started it. I love the concept of paintings being alive. The Door to the Lost was pretty good, I felt like I had a lot more questions than answers so maybe it will be a series. The book had a nice tidy ending but we’ll see. Smoke and Mirrors I really had to push through because of all the bullying and utter sad feeling to it. Peasprout Chen was a fun audiobook mixing martial arts and ice skating, with tons of action, intrigue and mystery involved. The Haunted Serpent was a somewhat spooky book with zombies, snakes and ghosts oh my! The Last Kids on Earth is always fun with the amazing illustrations and end of the world monster battles. The Magic Misfits had a nice bit of diversity and the narration was good, but I was a bit lost since I didn’t read the first story. I did enjoy the magic tricks in between the story line though.

This week at The Book Monsters, we…

Not much this week, very busy!

That is all for us this week. So until next week, stay scary Monsters.

Avid reader and gamer. Favorite thing in the entire world is Harry Potter. I read to escape that pesky thing we call reality.
