The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Read this Week:

So even though I had a small reading week I really enjoyed everything I read this week. Soulless was a fun and interesting Victorian Era read with supernatural elements, I gave it 4/5. The Wicked King crushed my soul, I am still bitter as hell over the ending. I was hella angry after finishing it and that could quit possibly be the reason behind my slowish week. I gave it 5/5. Summer of Salt was the magical gay summer read that I never even knew I needed, and it also got 5/5.

Read this Week:

Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1) Kings of the Wyld (The Band, #1)

It’s been a slow reading week for me. I need to start reading more books for my committee but this week I just had no energy with going back to work. I finished two of my books from last week, both of which I LOVED. Every Heart a Doorway I listened to on audio and really enjoyed this fairy tale/murder mystery and did not realize it was a series so I will have to read on! Kings of the Wyld was so darn good. I buddy read it with Jessica and we both loved all the action, characters and craziness – dragon fighting and all sorts of crazy battles. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Currently Reading:

White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) Morning Star (Red Rising, #3) A Curse So Dark and Lonely

  1. I’m so behind — I finally put The Cruel Prince on my #MustReadin2019 list. I purchased it I guess last spring and so I’m hoping to finish both it and The Wicked King by this summer. I’m pretty pumped about it after reading so many blurbs! 🙂

  2. I really enjoyed Soulless, but never found time to read more of the series. However, I did read Gail Carriger’s Finishing School series. I would like to read The Wicked King, but haven’t found time to read The Cruel Prince, the first in that series. I’ve added Summer of Salt to the want to read list….
