The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR: None

Read this Week:

That Blue Sky Feeling is one of the cutest mangas I have ever read and I am really looking forward to reading the future volumes, I gave it a 5/5. DON’T LAUGH AT ME OKAY TWILIGHT AUDIOBOOK WAS AVAILABLE AND I WAS BORED WITH MY MUSIC AT WORK AND HONESTLY I LAUGHED THE ENTIRE TIME. TWILIGHT GETS SO MUCH HATE BUT IT WAS LIGHTHEARTED, ENTERTAINING, AND JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO KEEP FROM FEELING DRAINED WHILE I WORKED, I GAVE IT 4/5 FIGHT ME. I also read The Vanishing Stair and I am so sad that I have to wait until next year to see what is going to happen to these characters. The mysteries really came together in this book and while we have a lot of the answers to the questions in book one, it definitely gave us more questions to think about, I gave it 5/5.

Books added to TBR:

Cogheart (The Cogheart Adventures, #1) Frogkisser!

Read this Week:

For my committee:

The Truth About Bears: Seriously Funny Facts About Your Favorite Animals Not Quite Narwhal Anywhere Farm Saving Fiona: The Story of the World's Most Famous Baby Hippo A Big Mooncake for Little Star

Ada Twist, Scientist Rescue and Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship Her Right Foot Margaret and the Moon: How Margaret Hamilton Saved the First Lunar Landing The Little Red Fort

Not So Different: What You Really Want to Ask About Having a Disability The Day You Begin Night Animals Can an Aardvark Bark?

Great, Now We've Got Barbarians! A Place for Pluto Shark Lady: The True Story of How Eugenie Clark Became the Ocean's Most Fearless Scientist We Don't Eat Our Classmates!

Some of my favorites so far are The Day You Begin, We Don’t Eat Our Classmates, and Rescue & Jessica made me cry so darn hard.

For my own pleasure:

Santa Olivia (Santa Olivia, #1) Love in the Time of Global Warming King of Scars (Nikolai Duology, #1) Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

Santa Olivia was a great audiobook and I will hopefully continue on in the series, although the first book had a nice wrap up. Love in the Time of Global Warming was sort of an Odyssey retelling? Only modern day, end of the world and trippy like Block’s writing always is for me. King of Scars was amazing and I devoured it and that ending killed me, so now I have to wait a year or more now…. Eleanor Oliphant… wow what a different kind of story. I really enjoyed it. Anna and the French Kiss I listened to on audio and I just shoved through it on 2X because I hate romances and I honestly don’t know why I kept this book on my TBR for so long, but I’m glad it’s over.. not a book I’d recommend unless you enjoy the genre immensely.

Currently Reading:

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)

  1. Oh what a great compilation of books! A couple weeks ago I checked out both Strange the Dreamer and Truly Devious. They are “extras” this month, so I’ll see if I can squeeze them in before they’re due back. I’m starting Cogheart today and also have A Big Mooncake for Little Star. I can’t believe I own a signed first edition of The Cruel Prince that I’ve kept it in careful packaging this past year. I kept it hidden away with plans to read just before The Wicked King was released and then it just didn’t happen. But it’s definitely on my #MustReadin2019 list. Hope you enjoy it!!
