The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR: None

Read this Week:

So it looks like I read a lot but in reality I spent my entire week obsessing over Johnlock reading and writing fanfiction so to make up for that I just binged a bunch of manga to get page numbers for Team Hogwarts in the Booktube Games. I didn’t enjoy The Fifth Season as much as I hoped to, I really liked it at the end when everything started to come together but the first half of the book was really boring so I gave it a 3.5/5. All of the Superlovers manga volumes got 5/5, I have seen the anime and it left off at an annoying part so that is why I am now reading the manga and loving it. I really enjoyed A Sorrow Fierce and Falling, I thought it was a great ending to the series and I am happy with how all the characters ended up. I gave it a 4.5/5.

Currently Reading: Nothing because I AM TRASH.

Books added to TBR:

Princess Ugg, Volume One The Queens of Fennbirn (Three Dark Crowns #0.5) One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns, #2)

Read this Week:

Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) Sea Witch The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)

I really enjoyed rereading Strange the Dreamer, I didn’t remember much about it. I’m excited to read the sequel now! I loved the audio version of Sea Witch, which was a lead up to the story of the Little Mermaid. The Cruel Prince was an awesome book, full of intrigue with a big twist at the end. I feel like the title gives some of it away… just as the sequel will for the next book.

Beatrice Zinker, Upside Down Thinker Yasmin the Explorer Cricket in the Thicket: Poems about Bugs

I enjoyed my last titles for the Illinois State Monarch Readers Choice Awards and had a great time on Saturday helping select our 20 books that we will go on to read next school year with the kids.

Currently Reading:

Archenemies (Renegades, #2) When Dimple Met Rishi

  1. I’ve had Strange the Dreamer checked out for a few weeks, but it’s still near the bottom of my pile. I really wanted to read it so that I could jump into the sequel this year. I also enjoyed the first Yasmin book and am looking forward to “The Explorer”. Thanks for all the shares and have a wonderful reading week!
