The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR:

I know what you’re thinking haven’t you already read most of those volumes of manga? Yes, the first half of them I have but I had anime pop order these for me cause I wanted to collect them since they are written by my favorite manga writer. I plan to reread them, which I still need to get volumes 6 and 7 🙂 And then as far as Tell me Three Things, I had some amazon credit to spend and this book was pretty much the exact amount of credit I had.

Read this Week:

Oh, another small reading week but in my defense I have been reading Priory with friends and it is massive and has been taking up a bunch of time, also I have been working everyday for the last week and will have to work everyday for the next week cause I am finishing out my final week at my old job as well as starting training at my new job. So I really haven’t had much free time, and I started watching Merlin and it is taking over my life so that’s fun. Honestly I think February burned me out a bit and I am so exhausted so please bear with me. April should be much more impressive cause I will be settled into the new job and it’s the next round of the Magical Readathon: O.W.L.S.

Long Way Down packed such a huge punch that I honestly was not expecting. I definitely  teared up a few times and it is incredibly written. I need to check out more of Jason Reynolds works and I gave it 5/5. Never-Contented Things took me SO LONG to read. I did a full review of it on here so if you want to know my thoughts you can check that out 🙂

Currently Reading:

Like I said I am budding reading this with a couple of friends and we are kinda taking our time with it because we are all incredibly busy. I am enjoying it so far though.

Books added to TBR:

Secrets of a Fangirl Great White Shark Adventure Bat and the End of Everything

Read this Week:

The Last of the High Kings (New Policeman, #2) The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1)

I really enjoyed The Last of the High Kings, a bit of fey, magic and Irish folklore mixed into one great story. The City of Brass I finished on audio (it’s a whopping 19 hours) and really enjoyed it! Such a great mix of magic and intrigue and a world so full and rich. I feel like I hit a bit of a slump this week – been spending more time with my BFF and my husband was sick which meant babying him a bit.

Currently Reading:

Cogheart (The Cogheart Adventures, #1) Girls of Paper and Fire (Girls of Paper and Fire, #1)

  1. I hope you’re enjoying Girls of Paper and Fire. It would be nice if this is an exciting new series to jump on. And your review of Never-Contented Things makes it sound so crazy. Not sure that one would be my cup o’ tea. I am looking forward to the second book in The Cogheart Adventures series. Have a great reading week!

I totally agree about the punch of Long Way Down. I think it is my favourite Jason Reynolds book (or All-American Boys). I have lots of library patrons looking for the second (we just got it) and the third Bat books, they have been really good. Enjoy your reading week!
