The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR: None

Read this Week:

Yayay, some reading actually happened this week. So I read Harmony Nice’s book in practically a day, I LOVED it. 5/5 for sure.  I decided to pick up The Gilded Wolves on audio, I really didn’t like it you guys, I gave it 2/5 stars. I enjoyed the characters and their relationships to each other but I didn’t like the plot, setting or magic system.

I swear I am finishing this book tonight okay??

Books added to TBR:

Me and Marvin Gardens The Year We Fell From Space Order of the Majestic Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince (Shades of Magic - The Steel Prince)

Read this Week:

Monument 14 (Monument 14, #1) Searching for Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #2) Check, Please!: #Hockey, Vol. 1 Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicle #2)

The Fourth Horseman The Simple Art of Flying The Chaos of Stars A Fierce and Subtle Poison A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes, #3)

Wow, between my week off and Dewey’s readathon, I really read! 10 books wow! Monument 14 was an interesting apocalyptic reader that ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I’ll be looking into the next book soon. Searching for Dragons was a cute second book in a series I’ve been meaning to read forever – because dragons! Check Please! was so darn cute so I’ll be looking forward to the next one. Mother Knows Best was such a great back story to Mother Gothel, I loved how it tied into the previous books as well. Godsgrave was so long, but very good and bloody… so much blood… The Fourth Horsemen literally prevented an apocalypse and I really enjoyed the story. The Chaos of Stars is Egyptian mythology in modern times and I like how everything played out. A Fierce and Subtle Poison was an amazing mystery with some paranormal elements added in. I’ll have to look into the next book by the author. Reaper at the Gates I thought would be a conclusion to the series, but boy was I wrong… definitely more fodder for this crazy bloody world that Tahir has built.

Currently Reading:

Caterpillar Summer A Perfect Blood (The Hollows, #10)
