The Monster Report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Books added to TBR:

These manga are insanely hard to find so when I saw some volumes that I did not have yet I snatched them up.

Read this Week:

Yes this was my first time reading The Golden Compass and it was pretty good, I really enjoyed the story and I loved the idea of daemons and them being linked to the person. I did find it quite dense though but still managed to read it in one day. I gave it 4/5. Doreen Valiente Witch was incredibly interesting and informative, I found it quite crazy that so much of the craft actually comes from her and it seems that Gerald Gardner used quite a bit of her work with never giving her the credit that she deserves. I gave it 4/5.

Currently Reading:

Nothing at the second cause I just finished Doreen Valiente Witch.

Books added to TBR:

My Jasper June Beyond the Black Door All-American Muslim Girl The Liars of Mariposa Island

Read this Week:

Pippi Longstocking Lumberjanes, Vol. 9: On a Roll Lumberjanes, Vol. 10: Parents' Day Wishes and Wellingtons A Question of Holmes (Charlotte Holmes #4)

Pippi Longstocking I read ages ago and grew up on the movies and loved revisiting her crazy personality on audiobook. Lumberjanes is always great and lots of fun things going on in these latest two volumes. Wishes and Wellingtons was a cute graphic novel about a genie in a sardine can and a girl from London in a school for fine young ladies – lots of shenanigans of course. A Question of Holmes was a little disappointing compared to the last few books – no big case, I felt this one wasn’t really connected at all to Holmes and Watson – not like all the Moriarty cases before.. I just felt it was off compared to the other books, not as engaging.

Currently Reading:

Blanca & Roja The Undead Pool (The Hollows, #12)

This week at The Book Monsters, we…

#COYER Summer Hunt

That is all for us this week. So until next week, stay scary Monsters.

Avid reader and gamer. Favorite thing in the entire world is Harry Potter. I read to escape that pesky thing we call reality.
