Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

I Wish you All the Best is one of the best books I have ever read without a doubt. Ben is such a compelling main character and they really make you feel everything that they are feeling. Nathan is honestly one of the most precious characters that I have ever had the pleasure to read about and I would die for him. The moments though that really got my heart strings going where the ones with Ben and their family. I would absolutely love to come up on Ben’s parents in a dark alley because they are POS and don’t deserve them as their child. Anyways what I am trying to say is this book is amazing please read it. 5/5 . Hitorijime My Hero vol 1 was very weird because I was not expecting to just be thrown straight into the story. Their is some flashback scenes at the beginning and it takes you a minute to realize that is what they are. Otherwise I really enjoyed the start of this manga and I am excited to see where it goes next. 4/5.
This is a reread for me I just really want to read Bloodwitch.

Read this Week:
Grace and Fury was so good! I could barely put it down. I love the premise, the characters, the plot twists! Definitely not what I was expecting. I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel which comes out this month. Dr Stone v. 3 was a fun addition, more science and somewhat caveman antics. Giant Days Early Registration brings us back to the beginning and I just love seeing the girls young and not so jaded (or maybe jaded…lol). Sleepless v. 1 and 2 blew me away, the art was gorgeous and the story was amazing, I absolutely loved every minute. The Backstagers v. 3 was a fun addition – definitely more short comics than a full arc of story going on. It was a lot of fun to read. Finding Baba Yaga was a gorgeous retelling of the tale in verse and somewhat more modernized. I really enjoyed Yolen’s twist on it and it will be one I revisit in the future. Sovereign was a crazy sci-fi adventure about a teenage boy stranded on a supposedly deserted planet… only it’s not. Quite an enjoyable Audible Original.
This week at The Book Monsters, we…
Nada… I really need to work on that…
That is all for us this week. So until next week, stay scary Monsters.
