Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? I had a pretty good reading week lately I have been in a huge reading mood so that has been a lot of fun. The Last Magician is a book that I have tried to read a few time but I had never gotten past 150 pages, I listened to the audiobook while at work though and I actually really enjoyed it. I gave it 4/5, A Conspiracy of Truths was actually a book I picked up on a whim at the library and I am so glad that I did because it was amazing. It is all about this old man who has been wrongly jailed for witchcraft and he has to tell all these stories to keep himself alive. That is bare bones synopsis cause I don’t want to give anything away, but I gave it 5/5 and highly recommend. Breathe was kind of a spur of the moment book, I listened to the audio book of it at work and let me tell you it made the day go by super quick because I was so engrossed in it. I gave it 4/5.

Read this Week:
I had a pretty busy reading week. I finished a chunkster of a book – The Name of the Wind which was an epic reread – one I had read one of my first years in college so it’s been a decade or more. I loved every page and cannot wait to read the sequel. Mammal Takeover was a kids nonfiction graphic novel about dinosaurs. It was so-so. Ban this Book was so good, the audiobook made me almost cry at work while I was working on books at my desk… luckily no kids saw. Such a great story and I hope all my students read it! Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus was a great audiobook as well about kids with disabilities – a girl born with no arms who befriends a boy with tourette syndrome. A great story about being brave and embracing who you are. Welcome to Wanderland is a great graphic novel that is both magical and awesome in a few different ways. Just read it, it’s great. The Immortal Rules was a vampire book that is also dystopian and does not have a love story as the main story so woot! Go Kagawa because now I want to read the next one… for a long book it sure was a quick read.
This week at The Book Monsters, we…
That is all for us this week. So until next week, stay scary Monsters.
