Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

I was on vacation this past week and I got quite a bit of reading done. You Asked for Perfect was way better than I was expecting. I did really enjoy Laura Silverman’s first book but I definitely connected to the characters in this book more. Ariel really reminded me of how I was in high, always stressing about grades and making sure that I was doing enough in terms of productivity. It broke my heart watching him doing things that were detrimental to himself all for the sake of an A. I gave it a 4.5/5 stars. Crownbreaker really brought the feelings with all the nods to the previous books as well as the trials that favorite characters found themselves. I had a great time with this and it probably goes without saying that Sebastien De Castell is my favorite author. 4.5/5. Finale kinda destroyed me, I really loved Legendary and Tella is without question the more interesting of the two sisters. I was beyond happy that she had the majority of the chapters in Finale and I found the ending satisfying but also in ways slightly underwhelming. I gave it 4.5/5 and I finish it in one day.

Read this Week:
I’ve been on a cleaning binge and tv/movie binge since I’ve been off so my reading has taken a dive I guess. House of Furies was so – so – not as creepy more horror/gore and weird than I expected and a bit rushed. Crownbreaker was so good and I’m sad not to have another De Castell book lined up! The Odd Sisters was a great edition to the series and loved seeing their story come all together. Deadline was so good and that ending killed me so I’ll be looking for the next book soon! Nothing like zombies to make you feel better about the world around you. Space Opera was but but weird – what if the world surviving depended on a mediocre music group that had broken up, one member was dead and the remaining two had serious issues?
This week at The Book Monsters, we…
That is all for us this week. So until next week, stay scary Monsters.
