The Monster Report

report

Welcome to another edition of the Monster Report. The Monster Report explores the book happenings of Jessica and Kristen. Whether it be what we got in our mailboxes, what books we are currently hiding in, or fun stuff to look forward to this week at The Book Monsters, you can find it here. The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Also, Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It’s Monday, What are you Reading?

Read this Week:

Sadie is one of the best audiobooks that I have ever experienced. It is a full cast and there is a podcast element to it that makes it a perfect and fully immersive audiobook. I found myself completely enthralled in this book and I highly recommend it. 4/5. Dangerous Alliance is everything that I love Victorian Era books. There are scandals, lively characters, letters, carriages rides, and of course courting. I really loved this book and gave it 4.5/5. The Bone Season was a reread and it was just as good as the first time around, 5/5. The Pale Dreamer is the prequel novella and it was the first time I have ever read it. I love the insight that it gives into our main character as well as the rest of the seven seals. Also does anyone else agree that Jaxon Hall has major Kaz Breeker vibes? 4/5. My Hero Academia has been recommend to me so many times and I finally took the chance on it. I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to and will be trying to get more volumes ASAP (when I can.) 4/5.

Read this Week:

The Forbidden Wish (The Forbidden Wish, #1) Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) Dumplin' (Dumplin', #1)

The Bride Test (The Kiss Quotient, #2) Passenger (Passenger, #1) The Secret Garden

The Forbidden Wish was a great Aladdin retelling with a big twist, I really enjoyed the story and reading it with Jessica. Forever I finally got to and I felt like I never left the world of Mercy Falls. I really enjoyed listening to it on audiobook. Dumplin’ was an amazing audiobook as well and I cannot wait to watch the movie. The Bride Test was a surprise of a good read, I don’t read a lot of books like this but I really enjoyed it – very sexy and fun! Passenger was a really slow read and I’m not sure I really understood all the time travel aspects either – I liked the characters but I’m not sure it’s enough to keep me reading the rest of the series any time soon. The Secret Garden was a nice revisit on audiobook and I loved watching the movie after.
