The Monster Report is inspired by Alea‘s This Week in Books, Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves, and Kathryn at the Book Date‘s It’s Monday, What are you Reading? Read this Week:

I read a lot of middle grade this past week and I had an absolute blast. The Whispers is one of the most atomspheric books that I have ever read. I loved the descriptions of the woods and there is whimsy in almost ever line. I gave it 4/5 and I highly recommend. I finally read the last book in the Magisterium series, The Golden Tower. I have really enjoyed this entire series, it always kept me on my toes by taking the most obvious plot twist that you think it is going to take and turning it upside down instead. I gave it 4/5. The Adventurer’s Guild was my favorite read of the entire week, I feel in love with these characters. The world is so interesting and it really reminds me of a game I use to play called Little Kingdom. There is all kinds of guilds and when you are around twelve one of them claims you and that is what you are train in for you trade. It has all the magic you could possibly want and I just love it with my whole heart. I can’t wait till my hold on the second book comes in and I gave it 5/5. Aru Shah was such a delight, and Aru is such a clever person with a quick wit and tongue. The adventures she goes on are spellbinding and I love that she is in her pjs the entire time. Super cute and I had a smile on my face most of the time. 4.5/5.

Read this Week:

The Truth as Told by Mason Buttle Tris's Book The Court of Miracles (Court of Miracles, #1) The Boys Omnibus Vol. 1

Sinner (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #4) Inheritance (Adaptation #2) RoseBlood Still Me (Me Before You, #3)

Well I flew through some books, half audio this past week. The Truth as Told by Mason Buttle was quite a read, about bullying and also learning disabilities and the mystery of his best friend’s death. Quite a read. Tris’s Book was good, I did it on audio and I wish I had read it instead I was a bit distracted but oh well. The Court of Miracles was awesome and I need to work on a review asap! The Boys was a graphic novel and I’ve seen the show and wow it’s quite a shocker of a book, quite different from the show but I loved every crazy page. Sinner was a crazy follow up to the Shiver series and I really enjoyed the coming together of these two messed up characters and it was amazing on audio. Inheritance started off horrible but picked up and I think Jessica and I agreed the last part of the book was much better. Roseblood made me want to watch Phantom of the Opera again – such a moody great book with some paranormal elements, loved it! Still Me was so good, I just love Jojo Moyes and so glad to see how this series ended. A great series on audio!

  1. Jessica:
I totally agree about The Whispers. However, I struggled through Ari Shah. I was so excited to get my hands on it and so maybe I was just expecting too much at the time. I may go ahead and try book #2 to see if I can jump back into the series.

Kristen: I remember loving Mason Buttle when Ir eat it. Leslie Connor is such an amazing middle grade writer! And would you believe I’ve never read a Jojo Moyes book? I’ve wanted to for so long, but haven’t yet made the time. I should fix that this summer, methinks. 🙂

  2. I’ve been in a huge middle grade mood these days as well, so thanks for adding some more to my radar! Also I’ve forgotten how it feels to read as many as 3 books a week let alone the amount you both have gone through! Incredible!

  3. As much as I love Holly Black and Casandra Clare, I haven’t read any of the Magisterium series. It looks like you have a fabulous reading week ahead of you. Circle of Magic is my favorite Tamora Pierce series.

  4. Thank you for the good writeup. It in reality was a leisure account it.
Glance advanced to more added agreeable from you!
However, how could we keep up a correspondence?
