Top Ten

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week our topic is: Books that lived up to the hype

Listed in no particular order.

This one had quite a bit of hype on booktube and bookstagram but I also hyped it up a lot in my head because I love the Victorian era. It was an amazing book and it had some great LGBTQIA+ content that I was not expecting so that is always a huge plus and honestly I have not found another Victorian Era book that is even close to how good this one was.

This one is a much more recent read but I had seen a couple of my favorite booktubers mention this and say it is one of the greatest fantasy books they had ever read so I knew that I had to get it and try it out. I was not disappointed at all. This was so brutal and the stakes were insanely high, the setting was perfect, and the characters became some of my all time favorites.

This is one of the most hyped up series in the book community and for good reason. Kaz Brekker is my everything, I love him so much. This book blew me out of the water and I enjoyed so much that I immediately read Crooked Kingdom as soon as I finished and that is an incredibly rare thing for me to do. I usually like to break up series by reading some books in between but with these I loved them way to much.

This one was another that I had seen mentioned by some of my favorite people and I decided to pick it up and read it and it was better than I was expecting. It had a few things that I was not expecting that made the story stronger and I really liked the characters more than I thought I would. I really need to continue on with this series.

I really enjoyed this series although I will admit when I read the first one I was confused as to why it had so much hype but the second and third one definitely lived up to the hype. The first one was more of finding its feet and building the world and the characters so that the rest of the books could take off running as soon as the book was opened.

Oh man I had a ton of reservations when I decided to read this book mainly because the genre that it falls into isn’t something that I ever read. It is literary fiction which means no pirates, dragons, or elfs which I mean come on is kinda my aesthetic. But I was shook to my core because of this book. Not to be dramatic but I would die for Evelyn Hugo, she is so charismatic and unforgettable. She truly feels like she should be a real person and I think it is a crying shame that she is not.

So this series is one that is hyped up especially on LGBTQIA+ list of books and I listened to the audiobooks and I figured I would enjoy them but I never thought that I would fall head over heels in love with these characters or that I would become so enthralled and obsessed with them. These books are definitely going down as some of my favorite books of all time.

Again another recent read. this series is beloved by an incredibly large number and for good reason these books are the epitome of epic high fantasy. Kvothe is a character that is impossible not to love and its one of the few insistence where I am just as interested in what is happening in the present day as he tells the story and as the story itself.

This book is said to be one of the funniest books that you will ever read and wow is that the absolute truth. I read this not too long after it came out and I had actually just got done with learning about this era of history in a class that I was taking so it was super interesting to read a retelling of that. I actually rated this a 4 after I finished reading it but I could not stop thinking about it for two weeks after finishing it so I went back in and changed my rating to a 5.

Another series that I love to pieces. This is incredibly hyped up in the book community and it really does deserve the hype. I remember reading the first book and when I finished it I immediately read the second which again is rare for me to do. Also I remember thinking it had some of the best character development that I had ever seen. Cleo is a completely different person at the end of the book than she was at the beginning and it started my strong love of her. Also Magus is my precious.

Avid reader and gamer. Favorite thing in the entire world is Harry Potter. I read to escape that pesky thing we call reality.
